the lover in me

“I am always in love” – this is one of the things I said about my self during the introduction for our public speaking class. In this statement, I was talking about romantic love. But then, I realized that it is not necessary for people to be involved in a romantic kind of relationship for him or her to feel love. Love is always present in our everyday lives, and what we have to do is to open our hearts and open our eyes for us to feel its presence.

Loving is something that we learned almost unnoticed. For some it is the only thing that makes the world goes round. For others, it is life. Other people consider love as a threat to their careers and distractions to their activities. But for me, love is something that makes me happy and whole as a person. For whenever I love, it’s as if I’m loving myself more.

In our lives, loving is something that we can not get rid of. From the day we were born until the day we die, we can say that it is something that we never get tired of doing. As for me, it is not only my family and friends whom I loved. I learned to love someone special. I learned to love someone whom I never expected to love me back. I learned to love even the people I don’t know. And most of all, I learned how to share love by giving happiness to people.

Love is indeed a lifetime thing. It is but important for us to acknowledge the fact that even though we stumble and get hurt, the lessons that we get from falling in love and from sharing our love will only make us stronger and wiser. Stronger in the sense that we are continuously gaining courage to face harder challenges, and wiser in a way that we are now able to recognize our faults, never do them again, try to make things right, and to change for the better. So never be afraid to love, and never get tired of loving.
